Walk Freely allows users to report sexual harassment targeted at them. The app makes use of the collected data to display visualizations that can be filtered by harassment type, location, perpetrator type, and timestamp.
The app was developed in partnership with young women studying Software Engineering as a way to enhance their experience in digital product development for higher employability in a field dominated by men. The collected data can be used by the appropriate authorities (e.g. police) as evidence for data-driven policy-making against sexual harassment and to implement preventive measures.
